The American filter coffee (filter coffeee or brewed coffee) is an infused coffee that is prepared by gently grilling the hot water on the ground coffee. This method is able to fully express the original aroma of the mixture. It is not to be confused with the "American coffee" which is an elongated espresso.

The 100% Arabica coffee filter born from the desire to combine the two great traditions of coffee - the Nordic (Germany and USA) and the Italian - in a single blend. The toasted wood coffee beans are selected to express an aroma with a soft taste, familiar to our local palate; these make the best thanks to the filtered coffee method that lets out the bouquet of the mixture.

American coffee should not be confused with American coffee: the latter is simply an elongated espresso whereas the filter coffee (or brewed coffee) consists in the infusion through percolation of hot water. This method was born in Germany at the beginning of the last century with the invention by Melitta Bentz of the homonymous Melitta filters; the immediate success will make coffee filter spread all over the world, from the United States to Japan.

How to make real American coffee

The procedure is very simple, but you will need the right tools. The kit (the most famous is the v60 Hario) consists of a cup with a hole, a filter, a container (a jug or a cup) and a gooseneck kettle - or anyway one that allows you to pour the water with precision. In case you choose to use the chemex kit, cup and container will be a single object.

The water must reach a temperature of about 94 ° C. After that we have placed the filter inside the cup(placed on a container), we wet the filter with hot water to remove any flavors and aftertaste; then throw away this water.
Now it's time to put the coffee, in a proportion of 18 grams per person (300ml of water). We level the mixture well in the filter. We start to pour hot water (94 ° C) proceeding from the center very gently; at the beginning only a veil is enough because it is the pre-infusion phase. We wait 40 seconds and finish our infusion by pouring the water evenly across the coffee bed.
