The 2004 vintage Climatic conditions were characterized by a summer sunny and temperatures are not particularly high.
In the spring a good water supply has meant that the screw does not suffer drought during the summer months. The grapes have reached full ripeness during the first week of September and the harvest took place with a very sunny weather which continued throughout the period.
The 2004 vintage was fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with a maceration which lasted for 12 days for the Sangiovese and 14 days for the Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine was then aged for 14 months in "barriques" of French and American oak barrels, 1/3 new.
The vineyards of Tenuta San Guido that extend over an area of about 70 hectares have the distinction of being divided into various areas chosen on the estate for the particular characteristics of both exposure of the soil composition. In the 60s in the Tenuta San Guido was born the famous "Sassicaia", forerunner of many noble nectars established themselves later.
