Fusilli are a short Italian pasta shape that goes well with fresh toppings, from fish to lighter and summer tomato-based ones. They have a curled shape because at home they were made by twisting the dough sheet around a spindle or a long spiral iron.

Gragnano pasta is the most famous in the world and this Campania town in the province of Naples is considered the capital of pasta, by tradition and quality: a happy combination of history, local microclimate and raw materials.

Punto fedeltà

These Fusilli are part of the great tradition of Pasta di Gragnano PGI, they have the typical twisted shape that derives from the way they were produced at home (i.e. using a long iron, the ones that are used to knit): there are many types of fusilli because everyone has locally handed down their curled shape. Fusillo is a pasta that collects the sauce very well and is perfect to be seasoned even with just a simple fresh tomato: in fact it is one of the shapes that best go well with light and delicate sauces; fusilli are also excellent as a summer pasta for cold salads or, totally changing the season, as a winter baked pasta.

Gragnano is known as the world capital of pasta, with many quality historic pasta factories. Here (we are in the province of Naples) the tradition of pasta has developed thanks to a happy combination of raw materials (such as pure water from the local aquifer) and an environment suitable for drying, with air currents that allowed dry the pasta perfectly.
