Plus Ancienne Maison de Champagne ": so says the company slogan that can be found both on arrival at the Maison and on the labels of Ruinart Champagne. p>

Lhe history of the Ruinart family has been present in Reims since the fifteenth century as traders of precious fabrics, but only in the eighteenth century does it begin to invest the many wealth accumulated by purchasing vineyards for the production of Champagne.
The exact year is 1729 and the initiator is Nicolas Ruinart, while the inspirer is the monk Dom Thierry Ruinart of the Abbey of Hautvillers, to whom the Maison will dedicate the Dom Ruinart label.
The style of the Maison and the quality of the wines produced, combined with the commercial skills of the descendants of Nicolas Ruinart (Claude Ruinart, Ireneé Ruinart, Edmond Ruinart) mean that in the late 1700s the annual bottles sold were over 40 thousand, while in the 1800s Ruinart Champagne crosses continental borders conquering the new world and the Russian market.
In'900 the Ruinart brand has become so identifiable in the high-level wine sector that after the Second World War it was acquired by the LVMH group ( Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy), a global giant in the luxury sector.

Lhe Maison Ruinart is located in Reims, which is about 130km north-west from Paris.
The region is that of Champagne-Ardenne (Italianized and let's say it popularized in Sciampagna-Ardenna) and the department is that of the Marne (La Marne), where some of the finest Champagnes are produced as well as Krug, Roederer and ll Paul Coffin.
Another distinctive feature of the company, which does not fail to rightly enhance it in guided tours, is the vault created in the gypsum quarries of Roman origin, which wind along a path of 8km at a depth of over 30m.
